The Marches Careers Hub is seeking local employers, employees, or entrepreneurs willing to volunteer some time to assist a local SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) school or college.
We aim to connect with those outstanding individuals or businesses who possess empathy and a desire to support young people overcoming obstacles as they transition from education to adulthood.
Our team of Careers Enterprise Coordinators aids schools and colleges in enhancing their career services, and a key aspect of this mission is forging links with local businesses. Collaborating with our dedicated colleagues who teach students with special educational needs and disabilities, we recognize that it can be challenging for our SEND schools and colleges to establish these business connections. This presents an excellent chance for local employers to discover the untapped potential in these young individuals, which will help alleviate skill shortages and recruitment challenges, while also enriching the workforce and demonstrating a genuine commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
The support we facilitate is diverse. Ways businesses can engage with schools include:
– Organizing sector insight days
– Hosting workplace visits
– Giving motivational speeches
– Mentoring a group to enhance their employability skills
– Participating in career fairs, speed-networking events, or mock-interview days.
Volunteers may contribute an hour or two occasionally.
A business might establish a long-term partnership with a school.
Someone may wish to become a volunteer Enterprise Adviser, which entails a greater level of commitment.
There are numerous ways to contribute, and each connection counts.
